Marc Murray

Born and educated in Cape Town, South Africa, Marc Murray moved to the uk in 2010 to take up the post of Director of Music at St Botolph’s Church (The Stump), Boston, Lincolnshire.
Marc is Director of Music at Bury Parish Church, Foundation Organist and Organ Teacher at Bolton School, Conductor of Preston Cecilian Choral Society, The Rawstorne Singers and Southport Bach Choir, which was invited to perform at the Leipzig Bach Festival last summer.
In 2019 Marc completed an MA in Performance Practice at the University of York, specializing in the performance of early organ and harpsichord repertoire. At present, Marc is a doctoral candidate at the University of York. He holds teaching and performing qualifications from the University of South Africa; Trinity College of Music, London, and the Royal College of Organists.
In South Africa, Marc worked for the National Department of Education (DoE) school singing programme and was accompanist and vocal coach to the DoE’s South African Youth Choir. He also worked as ‘Acting’ Chorus Master and then Assistant Chorus Master for Cape Town Opera.
