    Description: Rossini – Petite Messe Solonnelle
    Petite Messe Solennelle is a delightfully misleading name for such a grand choral spectacle. The translation, ‘Little Solemn Mass’, misses the mark in nearly every way: this work is anything but little, easily filling an entire concert program; it is far from solemn, brimming instead with exuberant energy and playful spirit; and it would feel utterly out of place in a traditional Latin Mass setting. Yet, where the title falls short, the music dazzles, bursting with the flamboyant brilliance of Gioachino Rossini.
